The usual suspects are things like:Dellboy wrote:..on the list are Bremmer or a Sig for the black 22 or maybe something else any thoughts ?
Sig522: nice, accurate, solid, reliable. suspect they've stopped making them now. Good though.
S&W MP15-22: popular, current, lots of different models. Upgrades available, bit plastic for me.
Bremmer: mil-spec .22 AR, not loads about, youngest is about a decade old. Bargain potential.
CMMG, Spikes, dedicated .22 ARs: bit more expensive, loads of choice, loads of go faster goodies.
Walther guns: includes the H&K MP5, 416, G36 etc. Thinner barrel, same insides, worth a look.
..and probably some others. Pick the one that you can a) actually get hold of, b) like the feel of and c) afford!
I have a Sig and will never get rid personally, but others love their choices too. Good luck!

You should definitely buy a .22RF Bremmer because you get the classic M16-A2 look, lovely metal USGI mags and excellent build quality and then you should buy an UTAS XTR-12 or Vepr-12 S1 shotie.

1301 Beretta is a good shotgun, nice short LOP, proven performance in PSG matches. Can be shot in a match with no further modifications.
Was going to buy one myself a few years back, then they ran out of stock and went looking for something else.
Ended up with a Stoeger M3000, great gun, but does need a few modifications to get it to run lighter loads.
For a black 22, depends if you want to shoot mini rifle matches or not. S&W M&P15-22 is still the most popular.

Re: New black 22 semi and 12 bore sect 1 advice please
Really depends on what you're wanting to do with the rifle/how far down the rabbit hole you want to go! I've been using MP5 clones for mini-rifle comps for 4-5 years now which has worked out fine, even won a few club matches but now I'm looking for a more dedicated tool for the job so I've bought an M&P 15-22. Bought it for its lack of weight and the ability to easily upgrade the trigger, the latter of which was the biggest downside of the Walther MP5. (In fact the only downside of it, other than the lack of drop free magazines). I fully acknowledge that the AR platform for black rifle .22's is as passé as it gets (something that has previously put me off getting one) but they just work.
If you're just plinking with it at the range or you don't want to take mini-rifle too seriously, just get whichever gun you like the look of the most.
As for the shotgun, if I was buying now it would be the Beretta 1301 I'd go for with a semi (unless I had money to burn for an M2 + all the mods ~£1500-1700). Not as well versed in the pump world but I'd probably go for a Remington 870. It would've been the Mossberg 590 but as it doesn't have a solid lifter you can't dual/quad load which is a real disadvantage. The Supernova for me is just too chunky and you can get ejection and short stroke problems due to the 3.5" chamber YMMV.

Ran an 870 pump for a good while. Great guns.
Now got S1 semi auto 12-ga Browning A5 (old original not new name-stealer)
Also got an old 1897....
Bremmers are good. Got one. Of each. M16A2 & M4.
Minor issue is A2 carry handle, so on the M4 I have a GI issue swan neck Aimpoint mount. All of $15!!
M261 magazine inserts are $16 new from Numrich.
Any old junk AR magazine then becomes a useful host...some ancient 20-rd magazines with chewed feed lips gained a fresh role.
Even ex-issue RG magazines can be donors...at long last they'll become 100% reliable. £2 & up so cheap, if ugly.
Bremmers are easy to maintain as ALL internal M261 conversion parts are available. All other bits are normal AR.
Convert to centre-fire? Unscrew the .22 barrel & pull the bolt assembly. Fit the centre-fire barrel/bolt. Done.
Or get a second upper. More expensive option....but will allow for a non-A2 flat top....which will itself accept the original .22 parts.

It would be easier to advise if you indicate budget and intended use.Dellboy wrote:Been waiting for a variation to come back and now have slots for the above

I thought it would be better to dual/quad load WITHOUT the lifter in place, I am going to buy a Mossberg because of this lack of lifter. anyone confirm if better with or without.

Seen plenty of guys load 2 quite rapidly with a Mossberg 500, no reason quadding shouldn't be possible.
