Remington USA ownaa SMK.

Unless they've sold SMK seems unlikely.
May be some post-Brexit positioning for an EU foothold, but again seems doubtful. (Timing, present European set-up, etc.)

Was it something I said?!!!

I had cause to contact SMK a couple of days ago concerning a rifle in warranty. SMK were far from helpful. Remington got an email.... lol
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

If they were already on the way out, presumably this would be why they have lack of will to be helpful.

Or you could have just put the boot in and it's all because of you...

Emailing Remington, you would have done just as well writing your complaint on a piece of paper and sending it up the chimney like we used to do when writing to father Christmas as a kid. :D

There is a word that describes all this....what is it?

Oh yes "FARCE"

Ever since Remington and Edgar Brothers have had that falling out leading to SMK being taken over to become the UK supplier things have gone to pieces. I have friends who are dealers who have all but given up on messing around with SMK trying to get rifles or support, even when they do manage it build quality on certain products are a disgrace to once well respected brands CoughMarlinCough. Considering there are other products from other manufacturers that are better quality and better supported plus cheaper I struggle to see why one would bother with a Remington product.

It is interesting to see custom builders like Riflecraft switching over to other platforms like the Howa 1500, this of course means the main complaint against these other platforms "Lack of accessories" is increasingly a mute point.

Riflecraft gave the contract to perform the warranty work on Remington products, that's where my rifle is now. Seems it may have been Riflecraft in the first place who caused my current "issue" when they conducted the trigger recall.

Rhino Rifles have been using Howa actions for years now as have a number of US custom makers.

Now that is an interesting nugget of information Sim G thanks for that.

Dare I say it but I have on occasion heard conflicting reports about Riflecraft, on the other hand that Remington are having to sub contract out warranty work speaks volumes about SMK! Also rather knocks on the head Remington trying to force Edgar Brothers to go exclusive. I bet there are a few at Edgars chuckling to themselves over the whole situation!

Riflecraft have been doing the UK warranty/repair & "other" work for some time now. (Pre-SMK shenanigans)
They used to thread new arrivals prior to proof as well, etc.
Riflecraft have also had the UK franchise for the "Police & Military Division" of Remington for a good few years as well.

Their trigger work was a complete FUBAR though! The layers of SNAFU were epic....but it couldn't happen to a nicer SimG green55
