Fixed Parallax

Quick Q.
Just looking at a new scope with a fixed paralllax set at 200 yards, which they claim is parallax free out to 1,000 yards. Well I'm not interested in 1,000 yards for what I'll be using it for (CivSR 100-300 yards only). What I want to know is, what are the implications of using it down at 100 yards .... if any??
Thanks

Parallax brings the reticle and image into the same focal plan which means head position is less critical when parallax is set correctly. If it is not, then the position your head/eye is relative to the scope can affect where your bullet will impact.
Also, I've used 100 yard fixed parallax scopes at 25 yards and at magnifications over ~bowl I found that the target would be quite blurry despite the reticle being nice a sharp. This is a consequence to fixed parallax distances.

Which scope are you looking at?
I've used a fixed parallax Leupold VX-R patrol 1-4 in CSR for a couple of seasons now, from 25 yards to 600 yards.
Before that I had a Viper PST 1-4 also fixed parallax, and before that an S&B Zenith..(guess what)
When I miss I'm pretty sure it ain't down to parallax

If it's for NRA CSR then the distances are going to be from 25 to 500 yards.

I use a Leupold Mk4 LR/T on my practical rifle. I only shoot 100 - 300 yards with it so to avoid having to adjust the parallax before a rundown I leave it set at 200 yards and it's fine at all three distances.

Nice, but they are somewhat pricey $$$ for a fixed 4.5 power scope.
Specifically designed for high power rifle, and no choice of reticle.
You might have trouble selling it on over here if its not for you.
Plenty of other choices in the 1-4x market
If you like the idead of a nightforce then their own 1-4 x 24 is cheaper and has side focus which would address your parallax concerns.

if you are thinking of buying a scope in the US and bringing it back home in your bag, you need to make sure that it is not subject to ITAR regulations for export.
If you try to bring ITAR controlled items out of the US without the proper clearance you may spend a long time in an orange coverall at Uncle Sam's expense.
