Removing a muzzle brake

Hi All,
Made an impulse buy at a gun auction today of a Sec2 Winchester Model 50 semi-auto.
I'm happy with the gun and the price (£140), wood is spotless and blueing etc. is as good as new; for 50 or 60 years old it's very nice indeed.
Only downside is the massive mussle break / compensator on it. I'll post a photo later but there's a compensator with (I think) an adjustable choke on the end of it.
Any suggestions? Just chopping it all off will take the barrel down to 22.5ish"
I'm thinking of cutting the barrel back and getting a more 'discreate' extension fitted to get back over 24".
Anyone had this done and got an idea of cost? Also, any suggestions of where in South Wales would be up for thie work?
Regards
David
