Put some 38s in my Lyman Vibrator with Walnut Media and promptly forgot about them for two days. (In the Hut).

Quite a spectacular finish though. The Media has been in use weekly for a couple of years, the secret from Dromia, add a splash of White Spirit every time and occasionally put some torn up Kitchen Roll to mop up the dirt.

3 hrs in a tumbler with SS media does that.

There is clean and clean enough I clean my cases for a couple of hours each time they are fired with walnut and they are absolutely fine for purpose cleanliness wise.

List is too short for the cost in money and time for the steel pin faff on, that kit is only for shiny obsessives.

For once I find myself agreeing with dromia !

Having said that ,stainless pins are the only way I've got my 45/120 cases truely clean as I use black powder

I detest wet cleaning in any form but do need to wet tumble my BP cases since my hands packed in and I can't hand brush the insides any more. I use ceramic media as it is far easier to manage than those damned steel pins and gets the cases just as clean.

I've heard good reports of the ceramic media. What shape are your 'beads'?

One of the good things about the steel pins is you can pick up with a magnet (especially as i have to rinse outside), but if you do it in a work shop wrap the magnet in a piece of polythene as all the small bits of swarf turn it in to a hairy mess.

I use angled cylinders, they don't get the pockets quiet as fully clean as the pins there is a faint grey line round the corner of the pocket, never made any difference on the target but then as I have said I'm not obsessively shiny.

Tried all ways with those damned pins including magnets but just a feck on, the ceramic media is a lot easier and simpler to manage and control, but wet cleaning is the last resort for me including ultrasonic, give me fine walnut dry tumbled any day.
