Have just got my first bottle of Sweets from Fultons on the recommendation of some fellow TR shooters. My only concern is that I've read some posts elsewhere on the 'net that suggest that it is rather powerful and that there is the possibility of damaging the barrel if I don't use it properly.

I have used it once as per the instructions (not more than 15 minutes etc.) dried it out with a dry patch and then oiled with Break Free. Any problems with this?

Nope, use are per the instructions and you shouldn't go wrong.

As Adam pointed out, use as per the instructions, this is ammonia based and if left more than the recommended time it could eat the bore but only if you let it dry out, long as it stays wet it will be ok.
What I do with this stuff is check it in about 5 minutes and give it another coat and so on so it stays wet inside the bore. This stuff will clean all that copper out of the bore.

Personally I never use these expensive products.

I use Eds Red and household ammonia patch about, as Patrick says the trick with the ammonia is keeping it wet as there have been reports of it causing crazing in barrels if left on too long.

As I say 10-15 minutes 'tween patches does me fine and its cheap so I can afford to clean a lot and often. Mind you I'm not a clean back to bare metal fan.

Obviously I only use the ammonia for copper fouling cast boolit round fouling Ed's Red is more than sufficient.

I'm a fan of Wipe Out's Patch Out plus Accelerator for really caked barrels for speed and when cleaning other peoples guns. It goes a lot further than the foaming products and foams up well if you give it a few scrubs with a nylon bristle brush.

Time I give Ed's Red a try. Do you have any tips on where to source the chemicals in the UK, or names that any of them are more commonly known by here ?

Equal Parts.

Automatic transmission fluid, Halfords and garage suppliers.
White spirit, DIY stores.
Paraffin, DIY stores, garden centres.
Acetone, I buy by the gallon on the internet from glass fibre suppliers.

Its just the colonials trying to get themselves an identity.

I wonder whether it is best to somehow neutrallize the ammonia following cleaning?

From my experience the Ed's Red effectively removes the ammonia.

What would you suggest to nuetralise the Ammonia is the Sweets?

I think it is the concentration level that is important.
