At the Bristol (UK) Fine Antiques Arms Fair on Sunday 1 March I had opportunity to examine an interesting capping-breech loader. The rifle has a vertically sliding breech-block, which is lowered by rotating the lever / trigger guard through 180 degrees, reminscent of the Ferguson Rifle.

There were no visible identifying marks. Some research has however identified R.A. Brooman’s 1863 Patent which illustrates a similar action.

I have posted information here:

Does anyone recognise this action or have any information on the rifle maker?

What an interesting design, new one on me, looks like a converted P53/56 in origin

Certainly made me think of a Ferguson on first look.
