I'm starting to shoot at a new club, where you need to provide your own targets, my normal club supplies them or ive been shooting competitions.
what target size / design / colour would be a good target to buy / print for shooting a 303 on iron sights at 100yrds? It is basically plinking atm, getting used to the rifle etc.
at thorn, when i've shot 100yrds its always been at nsra .22 100yrd targets, but those are obviously quite large cards.
so just looking for a bit of advice really

Well one should be able to hold most shots within a 12" circle at 2-300 yards something around that size should suffice. Fig. 12 or Fig. 14 should be easily doable at 100 yards with open sights.

Yup, what's "allowed" to be used as a target is up to the club using it. It may be a 'Club Rule'??? If so ??????????? If it's good enough for the British military, then it's good enough for me as "ex" military!
PS. I never park within the "parking" spaces at Tesco either!

If you can get hold of some 'tin hat' targets, they're good for open sights (especially Vs) as you can line the sights up against a light color and still be on the center line.

They use a 'sand/sky' one similar to the above at the Historic meetings - from memory I think the bull (area of the tin hat (the inner circles are the 'v' and 'x' bulls)) is 5.5" for 200 yards.....you could make a scaled down one, or scale one down at a printers...

well i asked what is allowed, and i was told no actual pictures of people, as at one point people had turned up with osama bin laden targets. at this point he did mention he didnt like 'huns head' targets, but did say fig 11's were ok. so as i say, not sure if he was being serious about the huns head or not.
at my normal club at thorn, we cannot shoot anything that is not a bullseye/concentric circle type target.
*sigh* so are you one of those annoying folk who park in the drop off bay? or assume that as soon as its past 8pm that usual parking rules dont apply, and park everywhere?

When you say "Iron sights" are you talking about "V" and a blade, aperture and a blade or full target type aperture and ring foresight. ? Rifle rested or just a sling?

Nuh not the 'drop off' bays; they're almost always full by the time I get into town!
If a Fig 11 is OK, WTF is wrong with any other Fig. target??????????
