Just a short one really, I shot last weekend and popped a cheap ebay holo red dot on my AR, we were using a field firing range and I must say I was seriously impressed with it. After loosely zeroing it on a mound of dirt around 100m away with a little bit of hold over it knocked every target on the range down from 30m to 500m repeatedly, in fact out of a mag of 20 only 3 rounds missed their target and the targets were the furthest away. Admittedly it is no Elcan or Eotech but it did the job.

A few others had a go and did well enough with it, I didn’t think it was half bad for £20 site I got off ebay years ago to go on an airgun! I'm a big believer that you get what you pay for and i bet this sight won't take the rough and tumble for for a spot of fig11 blatting it did very well.

Budget red dots have come on leaps and bounds since the 90's/00's. A friend of mine has a knock off EOTech and the external materials aren't that much different from my genuine one. I've got a £80 Sightmark red dot that has been used on a 9mm, .223 and 12b used for PSG comps as it was/is solid as a rock :good:

Absolutely, I wouldn't like to take it into an hostile environment but i think the treatment most shooters here give a firearm means they are up to the job

You get exactly what you pay for with red dot sights, enjoy it while you can as you haven't paid a lot for it and it can be a bit of fun to use. Don't however go booking a driven boar trip and expect it to be up to the job because the cheap ones have a habit of suddenly letting you down.
