Morning all,

After a five week wait for my FAC to return with variations for .30-06....and .22lr (for a very rare milsurp beast, details to follow)

My M1903 A4 build has arrived... Consisting of:

Remington A3 receiver and bolt s/n 3203596 (September 1942 production)

An original Remington 1943 dated barrel (in fine shooting order)

An original Lyman Alaskan s/n 43963 in excellent condition (post war Civilian, late 40's I think)

An exceptionally well made repro mount

And an exceptionally good quality repro A4 stock (needed refurbishing and oiling, as some idiot had lacquered it)....NOTHING WORSE ON A MILITARY RIFLE

She came with a new good quality M1907 sling, that required dyeing down to a deep chestnut colour and oiling up...that was fun, but highly successful!

I JUST NEED SCOPE COVERS FOR THE ALASKAN NOW JON

Can't wait to get out on the range with her!!

Well worth the wait and it does look good HV. I think the Type C stock is the most aesthetically pleasing and useable of the three different stock shapes.

Is the bolt handle turned up for use with a scope? Also, were A4s manufactured and marked as such or were they always converted Remington produced A3s and marked A3?

If you haven't found any in the next couple of months, I'll see if I can find some Leather Lens covers next time I'm in the US, would repro' do if nothing else available?

Yep she is a beauty isn't she, I am new to all things Springfield, so just started researching her....first things first, just like the M1 Carbine and Garand, the Springfield strips down with ease, they really put some thought into these fine designs didn't they mate.

From what I have gleamed today, the stock is actually original NOS, she has a very faint K in the magazine cut off notch area, making it Keystone manufactured.

Remington made all the A4's, all bar the earliest rifles are marked with the official A3 blurb offset on the receiver ring, so the serial number could be read with the scope in position.

The rifles are all still marked as A3 still apparently.

Mine has a modified A3 receiver and bolt, adjusted to clear the scope.....

Can't wait to shoot her!!!

Good to see it's arrived.

My A4 is from the first Remington batch...3426114.
Was used to illustrate "Out of Nowhere" as the author heard about my A4 & had no access to any at work (he was employed in the Royal Armouries at the time)

PM me your address...finally found where swmbo had moved the box of ready to post scope caps.
Though my PC is still with Phaedra, so a bit behind trying to keep up online using the Android handset.

Oh, good luck finding original sets...only second in rarity to genuine Weaver 330c scope caps.
I've not got genuine examples of either, but have only been looking since the early 90's
(1990's in case Dromia wakes up and thinks I'm the same age as he is...)

True, it is hard to stay awake on here most of the time.
