Not entirely true. I'm a retired Chartered Electrical Engineer and Member of the IET. My annual subscription is 50% of the normal rate.FredB wrote:I paid my fees as a Chartered Engineer for 52 years. “I understand that the police discussed a suitable signing-in sheet format with you” .
It appears that this is correct . The FEO told RT that she wanted a box in the signing-in register for members
to sign out .
The current format of the signing-in register complies fully with the Home Office requirements. In fact it has more detail than is required.
The FEO is also supposed to have told RT that she would email RT a copy of the sort of signing-in register that she wanted . It has still not arrived !.
So what a load of tosh from the FEO! there is no requirement in the HO clubs law for this. The requirement F note 6 requires only: name, date & firearm used. Our register & the NRA does not have any signature, nor times, nor logging out & is completely acceptable. We record name, date practice or event & firearms used by a code that code (A,B,C,D...Z!) is a list of members guns & Sn's, Cal vs code.
We only sign in & out as a club to take responsibility for use of the range.
Clubs should not agree to do substantially more than the law requires as that creates precedence that can be used against clubs we should only comply with what is required bylaw.
From the correspondence it does not look like this club involved its NGO legal rep in this? if so thats a BIG mistake & it should do that now.
NGO - National Gamekeepers Organisation ?
Re: Merseyside Police carry out inspection at Anfield gun cl
In my World, NGO = Non Governmental Organisation.
Re: Merseyside Police carry out inspection at Anfield gun cl
I think they might mean National Governing Organisation, although I have normally heard it more as National Governing Body

I'm also with IMechE so you're not alone there. Although I am a long way from worrying about retirement I hope! hahaFredB wrote:I joint the wrong institution! There is no such concession in the I Mech E.

The 50% reduction is not because of your age, it is becasue your income from Engineeering related activities is below thw threshold. If, for example you were asked to do some consultancy and paid £20k then you would be expected to pay full fees for the year.Racalman wrote:Not entirely true. Talking to the Secretary of another Liverpool club this afternoon.... while at the club... he told me that they might be able to offer spaces for 20 new members, but they have already had 67 people apply to join. They are sifting through applications and rejecting people without FAC's.
Several key, long-term members / shareholders of Aintree Pistol have already joined this other club.... this kinda shows how serious the situation is.
One key member of AP has told me that they personally do not believe that the club can reopen while R.T. is still in control.
Several other clubs have been inundated with requests to join. It looks as though its is going to be particularly difficult foe people wanting to get into target shooting sports to find a Liverpool Club to join.
R.T. has said that if it all goes tits up, he could reopen as a Gallery Rifle Club without the need for Home Office Approval.

Merseyside Police have now concluded a detailed safety study and made the decision that there is no danger to shipping on the Mersey so have raised no objection to members using their air guns.
