The original event was put together by the NRA with input from LERA, HBSA and other interested parties, my self included.

The truth!
I suggested a match with Enfield's on the CSR forum because most of us that shot CSR usually did so with either an AR 15 derivative or in my case an AI.

We all enjoyed the spirit of competition and thought a day with our SMLE's and No.4's would be fun.
Mark Bradley took the idea to Peter Cottrell at the NRA, he liked the thought and the idea went out to other organisations like LERA & the HBSA (I'm a member of both).

The thought upstairs at the NRA was that the match should be a bit more inclusive, and to that end it was decided that other classes should be involved.
The HBSA naturally enough wanted a wider classification to be included to support their memberships interests.
LERA on the other hand wanted nothing more than Enfield's, which is exactly the same classification as allowed in the NRA CSR meetings.
As has already been discussed, the other classifications didn't support it last year so those of us whose idea it was in the first place have pushed for the original inception.

It is hoped that there will be two historic CSR meetings a year, on the other hand there is the summer historic meeting and also the Trafalgar in October.

Surely that should satisfy everybody?

I have entered with my No 4. Fairly new to shooting and entered my first NRA historic competition last summer which was great fun. Very good atmosphere and everyone very friendly.

I shall attend now, see if I can do better with my No4, than last year with P14.

Mick, I was asked for my input as I sit in neither the LERA or HBSA camps, I just compete in the Phoenix and Trafalgar meetings. For the record I pushed for just a SR(a) class for any eligible rifle to keep it simple. Others at the meeting had other ideas and we got what we got. I am convinced that there was some horse trading out side of the meetings/discussions that I was invited to.

Instead of moaning on here, why don't you contact the head of shooting at the NRA and complain to him. After all it's his match. I am sure he will listen to your tale of woe.

Ah, this all makes sense and explains the 5 round COFs Steve, should not have doubted I guess. I knew Bradders and Mick were involved but never dug any deeper as I thought it allowed for "Foreign muck" anyway.

So its use it or lose it then? It would be easy enough to re-instate though as the COF allready covers 5 round mags....simples.

Folks, as the man says, complain at the NRA.

Kenny, you have my No4 mate.....as long as its legal (which I believe it is).

Tip....dont hit the mantlet!!

A lot of the markers take notes and may return fire with the 2" mortar held for such occasions

If this next Match is a success why change it again?
