No ooman, we didn't. We try to listen more than we speak, we learn more that way.

This is also a contender, and also from Dolphin.

It's in .308, has an AICS stock and a Barnard action
Thumb-hole is a bit pointless though.....

Badger, I believe that the INCH is available (or is going to be) as repeater.

You did say a 'target rifle' - so single feed would be more appropriate...

What kind of shooting do you intend to do with it....target, or McQueens type shooting?

It looks as though the INCH is back in contention. The list of contenders now stands at:

Barnard
Savage
Surgeon
INCH

As Christel mentioned earlier, I think the Savage action has a lot going for it. Strong and solid.(Although not to be compared with a pukka custom action) Changing the barrel is a bit more than a two minute job but certainly doable at the range including changing the seperate bolt head for a different family of cartridge.

It has a quick lock time, aftermarket triggers, stocks etc. are readily available, ready chambered match quality barrels available ready to screw on and headspace adjusted at will with the locknut. The floating bolthead is considered to aid accuracy. The action can be obtained in all posible configurations ie Right bolt handle left eject etc. Standard actions can be Mag fed. Takes a standard style sight rail for easy scope fitting.

Ok - I just like 'em

John 25,

The INCH has been designed for accurate target shooting and, although it could be made as a repeater (is 'on paper' already), but it is a redesign as this would be a nonsense to make a heavy stiff action directly as a repeater:
-A repeater need to be light.
-A repeater cannot be stiff, being light with many openings and different receiver cross sections.

With that in mind, the rear locking allow a shorter action,a definite advantage for a sporter/tactical).

A target action receive acceptance when IT WINS. This is not so for a sporter, as the acceptance is subject to many other subjective criterias..

The initial definition in this thread was far from being realistic, and "clarifications" made in the course of the discussion did not change my opinion.

A simple comment:
-Repeater, calibres frpm .45 ACP to .338 Lapua!!!...What abput the magazine to accept the dwarf and the gigant?????
-Need 3 actions lenghts to Remington to achieve less than this.

R.G.C
returning to the lurker status...

Didn't even think about the magazines and the action lengths - good call! :good:
