You mean like with the Olympic handgun squad? Or alternatively locked in a strong room with armed guards outside in case they ran amok with their single shot .22lr target pistols....
wonder what the guards are armed with and why they are trusted but not a target shooter.

They were armed police taken off public duties.
I remember hearing about the arrangements for the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. The Shotgun and rifle events went on without a problem using the visitor's permit system. The Pistol shooters were met by armed police who confiscated their pistols on arrival. They had to compete on a closed range with armed police in attendance. There were complaints made by the competitors and eventually this led to the issuing of section 5 authority to international competitors from 2008 onward. It's a messy system devoid of common sense created in the midst of a moral panic a generation ago.
Coming back to the subject at hand has Des Browne set out compensation and disposal arrangements for the billions of rounds of lead ammunition he hopes to ban?
