Point being you can see as plain as day what the rifle is, with a car yes you have the possibility of it getting nicked but it's not in plain sight is it....

You also face the rather unpleasant prospect if one travels with a gun on a bike in plain sight of a criminal element stopping you and assuring you that it's either your life or the gun....

All of this security speculation and reference to the law will do you know good when u cone foul of an anti shooting copper or worse an anti shooting judge....

I know we live by the rule of law....I'm too much of a social realist.....

It worked well for me for eight years without incident. Good luck with anyone trying to keep up with me as I filtered throught the appalling traffic jams on the way to and back from Bisley too.

If we're going hypothetical - why don't villains just hang around the entrance to Bisley where they're guaranteed a steady supply of firearms in and out of the grounds day in day out. Or better, just stake out the car park at Short Siberia and wait for shooters to take their rifles from the boot of the car? At some point you just have to accept that you've done as much as you practically could and get on with life.

I was at Short Siberia one day and upon leaving noticed an estate car open, unattended and a selection of rifles in the back neatly laid out and a few more on the roof. Shooting had finished for lunch so I was a bit surprised so decided to hang on and make sure the owners got back fairly soon. Nothing, so I took a look up the side of the buildings still nothing so phoned the Range Office who did not reply so I waited so me more and after a good 15 minutes two chaps wandered up, we started talking and apparently they were from a club I know of. When I pointed out the rifles were unattended the response I got was if they are not safe here then where would they be safe?

Villians going into a camp where 90% of the visitors are armed !? I don't think so!
they would like to target someware where it's lot less risk to themselves

Safe transport is walking down the street with your firearm in a gun bag, the rest of it is wishy washy, neo liberal clap trap.

All a lot of worry about nothing. Secure it to the rack. Wrap a tarp around it and all people will see is a box on a rack.
