Why would a manufacturer fork out for a license to add a part that some people like and some don't, when they can just save the cash and let the buyer decide.
I reckon more rifles come without a cheek riser than do, by a very long way. Does that make it a useless add-on for the majority or just another way a manufacturer can sell another, more tricked up model?
As Magpul have sold millions of AFGs I'd say there must be some reason they're popular, even "tacticool" would wear out it's welcome if it was crap, after time... I'd hope!
Have you tried one? I like the additional grip for pulling the rifle tight, without needed a vertical fore-grip which, IMO, can pivot the muzzle down and stock up a bit much, sometimes.
I have never found it a problem keeping a rifle in position - especially mild recoiling calibres such as .223

As to "tacticool" - I would love to see how many of those millions of AFGs are -

1, In use by people who use rifles in combat.
2, In use by airsofters.
3, In use by plinkers.
4, In use by people who buy their rifles and accessories for looks and tacticoolness
5, In use by those who spend more time dressed in multicam in front of a mirror than on the range.

How is the mpg crap?
Because any aerodynamics it had have gone out the window due to crap bodykit and spoiler and the "bigbore" exhaust is doing nothing to aid scavenging plus its probably never been serviced and is running low tyre pressures!!!

The VZ looks very tacticool.......but give me some laminated wood and ironsights any day.
What he said.

Plus the wider tyres etc
Wider tyres (ultra low profile) are only available for larger wheels (16" and over). Adding larger wheels and a stainless steel (big bore) exhaust actually improve mpg; certainly when the car is going fast, which the boy racers like to do.

Yes i know they can but not always. I had low profile tyres and bigger wheels and a properly designed and dyno tested stainless bigbore system (and many other mods) but they were on a twin turbo Nissan Fairlady Z (JDM spec 300zx) and every modification was planned out and complemented the others.

But the point is..................

Adding lots of accessories CAN improve a stock item if chosen carefully.

But it can also make it worse. And can look a bit twattish too.

disclaimer - I slightly twattified an AK once so am not totally innocent :run:

Re-

Bearing in mind that beside being a fine firearm, the AR is also the biggest lego for a lot of grown-up boys with a lot of pocket money. Some businesses, like Magpul, are actively after that pocket money, so the main advantage/problem with the AFG is that this product is pushed /marketed so well by Chris Costa. I would not dare to judge Costa for the quality of his teaching but purely look at the "marketing". Some people will simply buy anything Costa puts its name onto wether it is a good product or a dressed-up turd. I once read this quote about Costa on some US AR forum that still have me in stiches :

" Certain folks here follow his (Chris Costa) attire and accoutrements more passionately than most thirteen year old girls follow Lady Gaga ... It's too bad Costa doesn't wear XXXL sizes, otherwise the aforementioned folks could buy exactly what he wears. "

Having said that I would 100% agree with Feydakin. If this is the way you like your Vz, well ... Perfekt , this is the most important !! Thanks for showing it to us, I hope you can put up with the friendly teasing and most of all, Happy shooting & Enjoy it !! :good:

As to the FN 2000 - well, its not really an angled foregrip as you see in the bolt on angled fore grips - more a gentle slope or curve of the forend - is it angled ? Well not much more than some sporting rifle stocks.

When I see an angled fore grip on a modern assault rifle which is an integral part of the moulding of the furniture rather than a bolt on extra, I will accept that a manufacturer has decided its a good idea.

Are the foregrips/guards (where you place your supporting hand) on either of those guns straight and parallel with the barrel? No. They are therefore angled foregrips. :55:

I have one on my M&P 15-22. I ordered it with the rifle but untried. I definitely prefer it to having nothing at all and certainly makes the standard quad-rail nicer to hold.
