What type of ceramic media do you use and where do you get it? I've been looking for some because I use it for moly coating, but can't find it for sale anywhere other than Midway.
When you say you get better results, do you mean the cases are cleaner or it just does the same job in less time?
I use the angled cylinders, not sure where the came from as I've had them many years now, Buffalo Arms would be worth a look.
To me the pros and cons of the two are that steel pins are easier to get out of bottleneck 30 cal or smaller cases than the ceramic, that could just be the size or the media I'm using. Steel pins do a slightly better job than ceramic on the primer pockets for the same amount of tumbling, however as both leave a ring of fouling in the corners then further cleaning is required with both, again this a function of the size of the ceramic media.
I use my wet tumbling for mainly BP cartridges and the ceramic cleans them far better that the pins especially on the insides, actually I retried the pins again just out of curiosity on the last lot of Snider brass I had used about a month ago and the result was dire, three hours with the pins and the fouling had gone but there was a dull tarnished looking finish all over the cases, a couple of hours with the ceramic and they all came up shiny again.
That combined with the chew on of managing steel pins just makes it not worth the effort to me.
