So, the plan now is, on the day I move the cabinets and contents (which will be a Sunday) I'll send an email to the firearms department so they are notified immediately, on the Monday I'll take a written copy in for them and ask for a receipt.

Not sure if it's possible but I'd also like a couple of variations at the same time. I'm only moving about 7 miles and staying in the same force area.

Ah, that clarifies things about notification - I had assumed I'd have to get a new certificate issued. I'll have a dig around the BASC site regarding the logistics of physically moving the guns. From NI to the motherland isn't as straight-forward as a quick 'flit'.

I've been informed that when I move to the mainland I'll have to make a first grant again (with referees).

WTF?

I won't know anyone in the area...

So, what will happen in the interim? Where will your guns be stored and how will you be able to use them? You may not know teh answers but the authoritioes should be able to give you continuity!

As for referees, no reason not to use ones from your current location.
