Beautiful looking rifles there.......one day!
I got to shoot a 1871 and a 71/84 yesterday and had to marvel at just how sweet the action was on both. The magazine feed on the 71/84 is a great piece of engineering.

Wow, that's nicer then mine.
Mine's a 1903 Spandu, and it's a bitzer, made of spare parts. Very accurate. I really need to drag her out of the safe and feed her some bang-bangs.

Who cares if its bitzer! As long as it shoots straight and it fun it's all good!
Go on! Give it a shoot! You know you should!
I'm shooting 300yds first thing and the foresight starts at 400mtrs so me thinks I'm going to aiming very low!!

Oddly, I find mine is bang on at 300 yards, even though the sights are set to a minimum of 400 metres. Not sure why that is, though. Now, aiming off at 100 yards is a different story. :cool2:

Hello all
Yesterday was interesting shooting the Gewehr! First round at 300yds couldn't get chambered at all. After that they went in but was really very tight to close the bolt but just couldn't get it on target. I was getting hits but just couldn't get it in the black. I was using PPU 200gr!
I was happy though!!
I the afternoon I had ago at 600yds and fared much better scoring from hits, then a string of three's, fours, one five and ending on a V bull!! party2
The bolt still very tight and by the end on the day I could see very small shavings of brass around the bolt face and in the receiver! Don't know if this would be normal?

No, anything but normal. I'd get the headspace checked. No way should you be shaving brass off of your cartridges.
I know this is a daft question, but are you certain you're using 7.92x57mm ammunition, and that the rifle is still chambered for such?
