I have this image now of badgers running around the countryside with Mosin Nagants. Though it'll probably have to be M38 and M44 carbines. Doubt they could handle an M91/30 :?

You can tell when you are encroaching on our territory and are at risk of being perforated, we have put up lots of warning signs by the roadside. Big white discs with a nice black stripe across them...

Maybe badgers have been shooting all those hunters where the innocent dogs have been blamed :G :G :55:

No further thoughts on this concept oomans? Maybe a P14 could be re-chambered or rebarrelled for 7.62x54R ? Or maybe one of those nice oomans at Dolphin Guns could do something special....

A P14 in 54R... Well it would work and feed from the magazine as well. What you could do is use a .308 bore and take advantage of modern bullets in the end of the 54R case. Hmm.. imagine shooting a Pattern 14, chambered in 54R with 155 Scenar's...

And would it work with milsurp too if the barrel were properly bored?

That depends. I would not shoot milsurp in a tight barrel so you have two choices. Either chamber it for 54R with a barrel suitable for 54R Milsurp or chamber it in 54R and with a barrel suitable for the high quality match bullets available. Personally I would stick a 1:12 .308 barrel on and shoot Lap 155's, probably Moly coated so you can take advantage of the case capacity.
I will crunch the numbers and get back to you on that.

Can any .308 / 7.62 action be used?
I know the R is for rimmed case and not Russian, but have no idea if that affects the bolt face or not.
I was going to say that the set will have to be careful not to mix their brass, but having a look at the armoury I can see that you are already well in to that territory!
