2 inch group at 50 yards? That must have been 9mm MP5 or similar. Not scoped rifle!

From the UK Police Firearms standards and training document Feb 2016....
" The individual will be expected to achieve a level of accuracy as follows;
at a range of 300m with a margin of error less than 0.5 metres and at a range
of 100m with a margin of error of less than 0.1metres "

I have shot alongside numerous police firearms officers over the years. The ones really that stood out were what was known as SO19 at the time. They were all hugely professional and capable shots. I also remember shooting against a 'police marksman' and upon coming home I advised the Viking that if she ever saw a policeman with a gun don't stand behind him, stand behind a house....

The problem is that all coppers with a gun seemed to be termed marksmen.
This will as likely relate to the average armed response. The standards need to be higher for the TAC units and specialists. It does seem a bit big but as long as it drops in the vitals, they may well be allowing for a run before they shoot as well.
Dont forget though that these are not F class or rifles that have been hand loaded for, but more usually using soft point factory.

Gosh! Who knew that at 100 yards my Mossie M44 was up to the job of arming a police marksmen. I was always very impressed with the old cannon being capable of this (admittedly shot from a bench and having done quite a bit of barrel floating). I'm doubly impressed now.
