If you buy a factory rifle, it will of course have had proof rounds through it. Maybe some manufacturers also fire the odd round just to prove they function.zzr1100 wrote:I'm a little confused .. me too.Well, as I said before, it takes about 40 to 80 rounds to smooth out a new throat. During that period, the barrel will tend to copper-up more than normal. After it's run-in, give it a damn good clean with a good copper solvent until your patches show no trace of copper (blue). If you don't remove all the copper, it will simply attract more copper and the barrel will never give its best.artiglio wrote:Vince, following on from the article you posted, would it be feasible if you had a barrel that tended to copper up, to clean all copper out and then run the barrel back in, assuming of course that there was no physical burning to the barrel?
