I see they have some 410 Enfields - tempting. Prices seem a bit higher than the last time I was interested in one. I might have get one soon if the prices are going up.

Had on ticket. :( Grampian got a bit twitchy about the slugs when it came to renewal. I decided it was better to concede the issue at this point in time. I horsetraded the slugs and S1 410 for another rifle in 22lr and got permission to use 9mm for fox!

I know, the mind boggles.
I eventually will go back to the slugs, which is why the 9mm is important. I can use it to demonstrate the suitability of 410 slugs. In effect, catch them with their own rulings.
But I want one because I like B/A shotguns (esp 410's)

Can anyone tell me if these 7.62 Mausers can handle modern 7.62 ammunition?
I am given to believe that modern stuff if more powerful than post war stuff,

I would say yes, but the twist rate will most likely be for the original 147gn ammunition. I suppose the the next question is, are you equating 308WIN with 7.62NATO? If you are, then no.

Apologies for the quick question earlier, had just got in from work and wanted to See if there was a quick answer.
I was talking to our club secretary, who knows a thing or two about these things. I was suggesting that one of these might make a good club gun for a number of reasons and he partly agreed.
He informed me that the 7.62 from that era did not create such high pressures as the modern ammunition. Apparently this became a problem a few years back when older actions were failing with new ammunition.
He questioned where and when these rifles were proofed. If they were proofed in the UK recently, he suspected that there would be no problem, however if they were proofed in the post war years, then he would not wish to have one as a club gun, mainly as it would be too much of a responsibility to keep an eye on what was getting put down the barrel.
Any ideas when and where they were proofed?
