Presumably, the RPG is a shape charge, so the grills prevent it from getting a clean hit, so the shape can detonate properly?
Tell him to be safe ... no, wait, tell the Taliban to be safe. Because if they mess with a Viking, there will be holy hell to pay!

Do you mean, so the shape can't detonate properly?
He has to be safe, he has a 1 year old daughter now

The RPG fence disrupts the shaped charge warhead jet and stops the penetration of the vehicle. In Vietnam chain link fencing was used for the same purpose but only when the vehicle was in laager.

My brother arrived safely home early Sunday morning 5th of February.
He should have been home a few days earlier but a snow storm got in the way.
In the light of the demonstrations in Kabul re the burning of the Korans I am so grateful he is home and safe.
My thoughts go out to the ones who are not home safe and to the families of the ones who have paid a very high price for what is essentially paper.
I so wish all troops would pull out of there and come home and leave the native people to do whatever they feel like doing. Strap bombs to eachother, bury eachother alive, throw acid in eachother's faces, whatever makes them tick (ha ha, no pun intended)
We cannot change their sharia laws and ways of living...no matter how many troops we send.

Armadillo - good kit. We should have bought into the system but at the time it was decided we were too heavily invested in the Warrior. Now we've bought into a hole fleet of vehicles that the Armadillo could have done at a cheaper price. Off the shelf truck engine and common parts. Whats not to like?
We'll eventually buy into Stryker, just watch.
