Ranges seem to be able to continue using lead so long as they have an "approved" lead removal and disposal regime. So more cost to the shooter.

The other big question is will civilian shooters still be allowed to shoot lead on military ranges?

So standard target rifle, practical rifle, practical shotgun & even DTL / Skeet can be exempted & unaffected.
Note also the exemption for anything sub .243 or 6.17mm, so sufficient to drop most smaller deer & vermin.

No amount of scientific evidence was going to turn this law, the HSE lot had it all pre agreed, the object of the exercise was to moderate its effects, & the NGOs did that.
Do you have any information on the shotgun layouts which have been exempted? I've not heard of any.

Given that the military is entirely exempt from these restrictions (despite being the biggest contributor), it would be farcical if civvies shooting on the same ranges couldn't also use lead. But then again farcical is the nature of the beast....

Farcical is a great word, very descriptive given my recent conversations with Otterburn.

We're now required to hire a Portaloo for shoots on the ETR range, not that we've ever needed one and the camp is only a 5 minute drive away.

They've stopped using the "long drop" toilets (which they recently spent money updating) and the ETR doesn't have one anyway.

And the bargain price for hiring something we don't need for a whole 3-4hours? £150, probably plu VAT :o

It's not like we go use the nearest bush, and the whole place is completely covered in sheep droppings to start with!.

Back OT, if we can't shoot lead or lead cored bullets what can we shoot?

Aren't solids/monolithics still banned on MoD ranges??

Indeed, but no, not allowed, neither is briging a chemical toilet in a van!.
