The only way for us is to have each others firearms listed one each others FAC.

We used to have a generic shared storage/use condition but that was changed at our last renewal to mirrored FACs. That's a bit of a pain though when buying and selling but it's OK generally, much better than needing separate safes in the same house.

In addition, we each have a mirrored amount of ammunition (for the calibres that were not on our own FACs originally - the second FAC has less allowance though for some reason). I assume that's just to cover the other person in case they borrow a rifle. This has never happened as it's a shared hobby for us and we always shoot together.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

That's the same as us, "mirrored" FAC's.............which kinda reinforces my opinion that we really need a national police force, reading off one page.............

Ask the Scots how their “National Police Service” works...?!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

We used to have the "can possess firearms from certs *****" for all of us mainly as the kids were, well, kids, but recently at renewal last year the FEO stated they have been told (don't know by whom) they are not allowed this condition any more and we'll have to put each firearm on every FAC (over 40 with mods etc). They assumed it was done as we shared storage space despite ticking the box say NO to shared storage, must have got lost when the tri-county squeezing took place.
As the kids are now in their mid 20s and have (and always had) their own storage it seemed like a non problem to let it go without an argument.

However some of the rifles and shotguns do appear on more than one FAC and not always an in-house FAC.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

I have no doubt that all of the changes in regard to this and other “admin” is purely down to previous practices cannot be incorporated with the database that’s now utilised.

Why? What's wrong with the concept of a centralised national force instead of the fragmented system of "little county empires" that we have now?

What could go wrong ? Well we could end up with it being run by people like Dave Orford or Cressida Dick . !

Very interesting.. I currently hold my club fac.. we have a very old and rare Stevens rifle on the club fac.. it has no serial number, being made in 1947 before the USA had compulsory serial numbers.. I do sometimes take the gun out to the range to allow one elderly member to shoot it. It would be very helpful if I could also include the rifle on this other members fac.. save a lot of paperwork and ensure the rifle stayed with the club.. any useful response please?
