The thing about the Lee data is that none of it was done by Lee they just copied other peoples and then added a few errors of their own, it is alos partial data in the sense that they have the very lowest loads so as to play safe with their limited volumetric loading system.

Best to find Lees source and go there to corroborate that which they have written.

Yes Hornady does. I looked it out in fact. It has very few loads / powders and none of the latter is now available in the UK thanks to Reach. Some of the mainstream US bullet / powder companies did produce tested loads for various such older military cartridges, but they've not updated them in a quarter century and usually consist solely of DuPont Corp era IMR recipes.

Thanks, I'll look into the Hornady data. The published data I've seen so far uses not quite the right bullet weight and not the same powder, so I was keen to see if others have used the same combination as me.

In April 2008 I dismantled 10 factory rounds. The bullet was a flat base .308 they weighed between 138grains and 140grains so not very consistent. The average powder charge was 44.4 of an unknown powder. I did not use this data to assemble any rounds it was purely to get an idea of how the rounds were assembled.

I have found that powder manufacturers are generally very good at providing data for a particular calibre, they often have data even if it is not on their published lists.

I would interject a note of caution when it comes to bullet choice, my MAS36 slugs at L.2975/G.3075 and I have experienced pressure problems with FMJ bullets that are over .3075 diameter.

I get good results with the 139gn PPU FMJ bullet, which measures .3075 diameter in front of Vectan TU3000 powder.

I did however experience pressure problems with the 150gn PPU FMJ bullet that measures at .3085 even though the charge was well below the never exceed charge.

My advice is, bare this in mind when it comes to bullet choice.

Ah okay - it's not on the Vihtavuori website but I'll shoot them an email just in case they do have anything.

As for the bullets, I'm sticking with the 139gr ppu ones so I'm glad you get good results from them. I have 1000 or so which should keep me going a while.

I just checked my elderly Vectan manual and there is data using TU3000 and TU5000 for a 151gn fmj.
