Notice how the pre-ban 'AK47' is actually an Arms Corp AK22 lookalike. Basically it's all cosmetics. These people have no idea what they're talking about and just pick out anything that looks nasty to them. But of course anything can be made 'nasty'. Barrett .50 cals are too big and powerful, derringers are too small and concealable, a $2,000 SCAR-L is too high tech, a $75 H&R 929 .22 revolver is a 'Saturday night special'. Your deer gun is a sniper rifle, and your duck gun is a 'destructive device'. It is useful to note that, according to FBI figures, these are the firearms most commonly used by criminals in the United States:

2. Ruger 9 mm semiautomatic
3. Lorcin Engineering .380 semiautomatic
4. Raven Arms .25 semiautomatic
5. Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun

Only the three highlighted had magazines over 10 rounds as standard and were therefore the only two affected by the assault weapons ban while it was in force. Of course post-ban 10 round magazines were available, as were more powerful .40 or .45 caliber versions with capacities of 10 or fewer.

None of the weapons commonly trotted out as assault weapons (MAC 10/11, AK47, M16/AR15, Tec9, etc) appear.

I wonder what she would say to weapons like the BAR, Degtyaryov, M14, AC-556, P90, PPSh 41, MP41, Reising etc that clearly were designed to be 'spray fired' in so far as that term is meaningful, yet have the silhouette of a sporting rifle. The Reising submachinegun:

This is only true in reference to his home state; The People's Republic of Kalifornia, and other states like Massachusetts and Maryland. This thread is bouncing between two topics, as to what is a Sniper Weapon, then I guess the final answer has to be any weapon used by a Sniper:

An acquaintance was chatting to me at Bisley, he told me that his son had gained the dubious title of the shortest range kill in Afghanistan. He was in the process of packing his rifle into his drag bag when a enemy chap emerged from the shrubbery a few yards in front. Thankfully he was carrying a hand gun for personal protection and he was faster than the other chap.

So in this case a Sniper weapon was his issue hand gun!

What makes a Sniper is a whole other subject.....

Except for the M16 (and H&K G3 and the Sig 550 I think), which is safe, semi then full, as is select fire MP5 (but that's an SMG) An AK47 has auto then semi on the selector switch.

Amazing how the anti gun retards confuse sniper with "marksman" as in police marksmen or just shooter as in someone with a rifle that can hit the target.! John Plaster in his book advocates bolt action for accurate sniping but recent developments suggest that certain well made semi auto set ups are just as accurate..

The beauty of the British definition is that M16 or 550 are not assault weapons because of the full auto position in relation to safe on the selector lever. The G3 wouldn't be on it's calibre or length......

Innit just Sim, in reality any weapon used in an ATTACK mode is an "ASSAULT" weapon ..in that you ASSAULT someone with it..
