I was thinking similar. Like the look of the new strike eagle 1-8 from vortex. Should be enough.
The Strike Eagle 1-8 is a great scope, much lighter than the Razor, a bit more mag too and a third of the price.

If you've seen the original 1-6, you've seen the 1-8 in terms of reticle/optical clarity. The 1-8 is slightly smaller though.

I used my 1-8 in the USA last month, like it better than the 1-6, better reticle, slightly lighter and shorter.
It's in a Samson mount and has the switch view lever for speed.
I've shot using 45deg irons in a match, surprisingly easy.

BamBam, interesting that you used the Irons. Was / Is the 1-8 not quick enough for acquisition at close range?

That was a previous visit and the scope was a 1-4, could have used the lever to switch from 1x to 4x, but hands were full with the mandatory reload. Really needed the 4x on the plate rack, so left the scope on the 4x and used the irons. Using high mag that close is always slower, for me.

Ah ok makes sense now. I guess the downside is having to adjust the magnification. Although if i ran an Eotec and a magnifier you'd still need to move the magnifier at some point
