My employer is also the secretary of the club I shoot at! I imagine they ask for employment details so they can contact you quickly if needed.

We have had FAC's for almost 20 years the renewal and variation forms have always asked for your employers details, email/phone etc which have been filled in, they have never been contacted.

My FEO has visited me at work on 2 occasions.

The first was when I had my FAC granted, he dropped it in for me to sign, I think he did ask if that was ok prior to turning up.

The second time was after I had a complaint from a neighbour for shooting a shotgun (claimed shot had landed on their roof )
He turned up in the shop out of the blue and had a chat with me.

I am currently filling out my FAC/SGC/EC in Durham area and there is work address on page 1 !!
I put self employed see home address!

There are some advantages to being an `old codger`, where it asks for employers details I just put retired!

Simply mixing work and pleasure. Firearms can be quite an emotive subject for some.

Why are people so happy to give out info whenever it is asked for without asking WHY they are asking?

There's a law against collecting information that is NOT needed. Informatoion "for the computer" is one example that comes up regularly in shops nowdays.

If an employer is NOT being contacted then WHY do they need his information? End of!
