My guess is that his not guilty plea says this isn't the case though.

Nothing but a filthy greed that saw him flout the law for money, whilst simultaneously betraying those people who funded his legitimate business. This will continue to have ramifications for those who legally hold s58, they are well on the governments radar now in no small part due to Edmunds.

I hope a discretionary Life Sentence gets dropped on him...

I strongly suspect you are right.

Sounds like he was motivated by money, considering the payouts from his go-between.

This is the second RFD in the news for selling guns to criminals, but the first to get to court. There was a RFD from Ashbourne selling sawn off shotguns, allegedly.

I'd like the victims families to be there when he's sent down. And for him to have to hear about the devastation his greed has caused.

Deserves to die in prison imo.

What I find surprising is the reported 90 shooting incidents where his firearms/ammunition was involved. If the report is correct it indicates just how readily some members of the criminal community are willing to use firearms if they have access to them.

While not seeking to defend this person in any way , we as shooters must be well aware of how the police and the media will play games with facts and figures to achieve the result that they want .

The prosecution talks of "recoveries were of pre-war handguns for which there was no commercially available ammunition" . I would ask , pre what war ?

It was also said that he was a "licensed or registered firearms dealer who is permitted to possess handguns as well as rifles and shotguns." Does this mean he was a section 5 dealer ?

And there is the claim that "Edmunds had imported hundreds of guns from the United States without putting them on his Firearms Register" . This suggests that the high levels of freight and parcelscanning that is supposed to take place both in the USA and UK is almost non existant .

I think there is a lot more to this story , and the only way we might get the real facts is by spending time in court .

I'm a throwback to the olde worlde judicial system that was once the envy of the free world.

You know, stuffy old concepts such as the right to silence (not the watered down joke it has become), a person being presumed innocent until proven guilty, trial by a jury of your peers rather than the media. All that old unfashionable guff.

Post trial we'll be better placed to know the facts stripped from the sensationalism.

But what do I know? I hail from the days when fingerprints required sixteen points of recognition in order to be considered sound evidence.
