Just another one of those untidy bits born of our 'something must be seen to be done' firearm law
It's bound to happen when laws are created as a knee jerk response to appease the press and voters.

Mmmm too tight to buy a new costing more than I paid for the gun,i did ask saddlery gunroom they didn't have any spares at the time and said even when they did they weren't cheap.Keep an eye on the forums to see what come up, everything so far has been for the shorter mag tube, would even consider a cheap sec 2 shotgun.

The DIFFERENCE is the same as the "logic" with .22 moderators

ANY add-on accessory (spare) assumes the condition of the item it will be attached to: so for the .22 mod., buy it for an airgun - no paperwork/permission needed; same item but want to put it on a .22 S1, then it will now assume S.1 restrictions/conditions.

Shotgun barrels as is can be possessed without an SGC.
The relatively new UK-only visualisation of some shotguns being intrinsically badder* due to cartridge capacity means that an identical barrel IF to be fitted to a S.1 shotgun, needs FAC style permission slots....as per spare rifle barrels.

HOW this can be enforced is beyond me as most of the spare barrels I have are devoid of serial numbers, or if they have them they bear no resemblance to the serial number of the S.1 shotgun.

My mate bought a pair of barrels for his S2 Miroku and West Yorks insisted it went on his ticket as a "gun" 8-)

Saddler, yes I can see that..it's still madness of course. My spare had no serial number on it...

Such was also the only option with Police Scotland too.
WAS.....they then decided to comply with Home Office practice & the spare barrels listed on SGC were removed at next reprint.
