Makes sense to me. Plus, 7.92x57mm is a 'propa' round. Non of this shrunk down .30-06 '7.62' stuff.

They might be shrunk down rounds young Tower, but they can still make most creatures/folks just as dead.

Another option, in terms of accuracy potential, that has just popped into our ikkle cranium, is rechambering in 7.5x55 Swiss. That's another very accurate round. What thinkest thou, bald monkeys ?

Possibly because it doesn't matter. Realistically, is the 7.5x55 any more or less accurate than any other 30 cal ammunition, if they are made to an equal standard?

.303 epps is the best idea so far , least amount of modification ,the old dear will respond well by returning her to .303 , Ovenpaa has areamer ,you know someone with a very heavy hammered .303 barrel blank --- no problem and Elroy Epps would have a quick chuckle in his grave ;¬))) :wales: :flag6:

Ah, but 7.5x55 Swiss is made to Swiss standards...

We'll keep the 7.5 for our K31, and continue thinking about a P14 in 7.92. It seems a good idea to us: we have a bubba'd P14 and plenty of cheap milsurp 7.92. We don't have any .303at all...

And I posed the question if they were all made to the same standard, would one be any more or less accurate than the rest? Whatever the answer, your quote highlights the flaws in your proposal and answers your question at the same time.

Because you only want to use surplus ammo, your proposals amount to the shooting equivalent of a sports car with a crap engine - looks good, but goes nowhere.

What ever you do, just pick a cartridge, build the rifle and post pictures of it. IMHO it doesn't really matter, in the end, because it's never going reach it's potential because of the limitations imposed by the ammunition.

All you're doing is chasing your tail and making yourself and everyone else dizzy in the process.

If you wanted a P14 but chambered in in 8mm, wouldn't you just go for a 1903 Springfield in 30-06 instead. Almost the same rifle isn't it?
