Marlin 1894 Butt Stock Extension

#1 Post by TomH »

I want to extend the Length of Pull on my Marlin 1894 by 1/2 to 3/4" to more suit my apelike arms. Not looking to add a permanent extension, more like a replacement recoil pad or a spacer between existing wood and pad. Any suggestions?

Thinking about this, RPA stock spacers are flat and solid and come in 1/4 and 1/2” thickness and would go between the stock and the pad and you’d just need longer screws. They could also be sanded down to match the profile of the stock and pad and would probably look quite good.

How much do you need to lengthen the stock by? I’ll offer some up to the stock of mine later and see how feasible.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Thanks, I'd thought of this type but want something a bit more permanent and aesthetically pleasing but with the option to return to original.

Half an inch would be good I think. Should give me both a better mount and less cramped working of the lever. If not, I suppose a Silver's Pad wouldn't look too out of place. I've read that the ready made Pachmayr Decelerator pads are often a poor fit and not worth the money.
