Action screw tightening

Hi all.
Is there a recommend f/lbs torc setting for the remmy action in a AICS stock.i am getting positional zero shifting and hoped the right torc setting will sort this. Berger

Walk them in to 6Nm starting at the front. You can tweak them a bit more however I would stay within 0.25Nm.

In theory at least the bottom of your Remington receiver is the same profile as the inlet of the AICS chassis so you would expect a fixed torque to be all that is needed. By walk in I mean tighten both action screws a bit at a time and finish at 6Nm with the front one first

Berger - Tighten the front screw with the rifle vertical - but leave the back screw out.

See if the action-tang is touching the stock - slip a feeler gauge under it or even paper.

If it's not touching - you will be bending the action when you tighten the back screw. Hence the zero shift.

It's not unusual to have to bed under the rear tang when dropping a Remmy into an AI chassis.

Should I put a slim washer over the action screw at the rear end then tighten so the rear of the action doesn't touch......?

Not if you want an accurate rifle. I usually bed the rear tang on Devcon.

I have texted Mr Mckillop to book me in for a pillar or 2 after the 16th of April.i will try tightening the action screw on the front and see if I can slide a piece of paper under the rear of the action.
