Twice I have bought from distant sellers only to find on collection at my local RFD that the rifle is damaged or not as described so you end up with hassle trying to return it and get your money refunded.
then pay to have the rifle sent down, so you can look it over, if you want to buy, then drive to the person and get paperwork sorted. that way you don't waste petrol on something you want to see.

I've said before, if I was going to send my certificate to someone, I would send it to the RFD that is sending the rifle. let the seller personnaly fill it in in the shop, then have the RFD post it back.

"that way you don't waste petrol on something you want to see."

I look at it like this, if going to see a firearm in person, & then it turns out to be not as listed/damaged/rubbish then we have had a nice drive in the country a spot of lunch on the way sorted.

If it is what I was looking for then even better win win.

"then drive to the person and get paperwork sorted" May as well drive there in the first place....

ah but then you get a nice drive and a spot of lunch without having to worry about the gun you are totting around, likewise you can decide to go shopping or look round a museum etc you spot on the way back

I asked Kranks last week if they could order me a rifle which they dont stock as I dont relish the fact of driving a 200 mile round trip to pick it up from another RFD, they said they dont deal with that manufacturer so was a no go.
They did however say I could order it from the distant RFD and get it sent to them and I would be charged 25 quid as they would have to fill the paperwork out?
By the paperwork I presume they meant my FAC??

I believe RFD to RFD transferred is different as it is a stock transfer, however I stand to be corrected on that one
The issue is when a private individual buys off another private individual and has it shipped via an RFD

Nope.
If YOU are the one ordering from the RFD then its a distance sale (where you SHOULD be sending that RFD your FAC)
The fact that Kranks don't know better is not a shock.

Interesting idea, but the last few guns I sold were sent by myself from the nearest Royal Mail post office.

What about if the distant RFD takes my money for the gun but gets it sent to my RFD straight from the distributor, does my RFD fill in the FAC or is it still up to the shop who took my money?
Theres a cost issue too in my circumstance. If the sending RFD is charging 25 quid and Kranks charge 25 Quid its then cheaper to go pick it up lol
In fact to save all this worry 8-) of not knowing what is right or wrong I'll just go :good:

Not doing this again - next time I'll drive it, £60 to have the RFD transfer and now the risk of your licence going AWOL.
Which leaves me at home without a licence while all this goes on.What a ball ache.
