Calling them “weapons of war” that are “not protected by the Second Amendment,” a federal appeals court Tuesday upheld Maryland’s ban on semi-automatic guns with “certain military style features” passed by the state after the 2012 Newtown school massacre.

The 10-4 ruling casts aside a lower court decision that questioned the constitutionality of a law that is similar to ones in states like California, Connecticut and New Jersey.

But the wording goes much farther than the laws in those states, declaring that “assault weapons and large-capacity magazines are not protected by the Second Amendment, The Washington Post is reporting. The majority opinion, written by Judge Robert B. King, refers to the banned firearms as “weapons of war” that the court says are most useful in the military.

When I renewed my French FAC, my semi-auto AR15 found itself described as "fusil de guerre" (War Rifle" in 5,56x45. I objected and had it re-classified as simply "semi-auto rifle in 223R".

Sooo, if the victims or police were to be advised or allowed to use 40mm grenade launchers, that would solve the reloading problem ...... wouldn't it?

So.... are they expecting people who are intent on doing others harm, to respect the 10 or less magazine law..? Bearing in mind that the country is overflowing with 30 rd mags...??

Total and utter drivel, you will see this being challenged.

In all those incidents (and the recent one in Istanbul) the casualty rates were MUCH less than could be expected because the nutter couldn't shoot and also the fact that people are NOT getting away but "hiding" in huddled groups which makes a target rich envronment.

New facts are showing these murderrs shoot themselves when the police arrive or warning shots are fired (warning shots ) They are scared of being shot by cops and so do themselves in. True.

AR15's are NOT weapons or war, they are modern sporting rifles, albeit with a design over 50 years old. In any case, AR's are NOT the normal "mass shooting" tool of choice. Nowadays many police patrol cars cary a patrol rifle (usually an AR but there are other types)

Also the 2nd Ammendment doesn't mention any of the stuff they rabbit on about now, again grounds for appeal. Thankfully trump is against this nonsensical stuff from the courts. The 2nd Amendment is a right.

So would that mean all police officers would have to hand thiers in too, as last time I checked, they aren't soldiers either and so have no need for 'weapons of war' either, as afterall, they are there to protect and serve aren't they?

In some silly states that magazine ban DID impact on the law enforcement I believe..

If you carry a .45 1911 nothing has really changed though.
